20世纪60年代，一种以LSD为核心的致幻毒品文化在美国有闲阶级中形成。LSD的滥用一方面与社会知名人士的引导分不开，同时也与该种毒品在致幻方面的惊人特性有关。从深层次的意义上来说，LSD的泛滥也是美国为代表的西方社会所具有的物质主义文化取向的产物。虽然人们对该种毒品副作用的认识导致了它的逐渐衰落，但滥用现象所昭示的社会病理问题仍有待人们进行深刻地反思。

LSD Abuse and the Spiritual Poverty in an Affluent Society
Abstract: In the 1960s, a psychedelic drug culture centered on LSD had taken shape among the leisured classes of the United States. Its abuse had close relationships with its astonishing attributes in creating hallucinations as well as with the advocacy from the celebrities. In a deep sense, the LSD abuse was also the outcome of the cultural orientation of materialism in the Western societies typified by the United States. Though the increasing realization of its side effects had led to its gradual decline, the social pathological problems revealed by the abuse itself need more profound reflections.
