杰斐逊与奴隶制关系问题研究综述

[内容摘要]围绕杰斐逊的理想信条与其种族观的关系、其人权观与财产观关系、杰斐逊对待奴隶制态度的时间变化及其私生活中的种族关系等方面，学术界一直争执不休；一派学者惯于把杰斐逊描述成一个理想主义的圣哲、民主的斗士或“自由的使徒”，另一派则把杰斐逊当作一个充满矛盾的典型，甚至指责他是一个言行不一或口是心非的伪君子。

Studies of Thomas Jefferson and Slavery: An Overview
[Abstract]Centering on the relationships between Thomas Jefferson’s idealist creeds and his racial beliefs, and between his human right opinions and his property right standpoints, and centering on his changing attitudes towards slavery with times and the racial relations in his private lives, the academic circles has been disputing with each other all the time, with one school being inclined to describe Jefferson as an idealist sage, a democratic warrior or an “apostle of freedom”, while the other school regarding him as a model full of contradictions, and even castigating him as a hypocrite with the deeds not matching his words or saying one thing but meaning another.
